Vazhaipoo Kuzhambu

Good evening friends 🙋🙋🙋 I never knew kuzhambu can taste that good until I tasted Vazhaipoo Kuzhambu. If somebody doesn't like vazhaipoo this is the best way to include it in their diet. There are lots of benefits with banana flower. It is a must to include in your diet in any form and here comes one.

Ingredients

Vazhaipoo - 1
Onion - 4 (big)
Tomato - 4
Tamarind - lemon sized
Chilli Powder - 1 tablespoon
Coriander Powder - 1 and half tablespoon
Oil - for frying
Mustard - 1 teaspoon
Fenugreek - 1/2 teaspoon
Curry Leaves
Salt


Procedure
Cleaning Vazhaipoo

  • First apply gingelly oil to your hands. Because it prevents your hands from becoming sticky.
  • Now open the flower and collect all the florets.
  • Spread it in a newspaper or any sheet.
  • Take each floret and remove the stamen which has a small black coloured head.
  • Remove the thin white bag like covering too.
  • No need to dip in water as we are going to fry it. For other preparations with this flower we have to immerse it in water.
  • No need to chop too.

Frying Florets

  • Heat oil in kadai for deep frying the florets.
  • Once the oil is hot fry it in batches. Fry till it becomes crispy.
  • Drain the oil completely and collect it.

Preapring Kuzhambu

  • Soak the tamarind in water while you start to clean the flower.
  • Get the tamarind juice out of it and keep ready.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of oil in another kadai for tempering.
  • Add in mustard seeds. once it splutters add in fenugreek and curry leaves.
  • Now add chopped onions and let it saute for 2 to 3 mins
  • Add chopped tomatoes to it. Let it both fry for sometime.
  • Time to mix the tamarind juice. 
  • Add chilli powder, coriander powder and salt.
  • Give it a good mix and let it boil and leave all the raw smell.
  • Once raw smell is gone add in the fried florets and mix it well.
  • Don't cook for too long after adding the fried florets, as it is already really cooked well in oil.
  • Serve it with hot rice.
